New York Pregnancy Discrimination Lawyer
Under New York Employment Law, it is unlawful to fire a woman because of her pregnancy. Moreover, employers cannot take any other adverse employment actions against a pregnant worker because of her pregnancy. For example, a boss cannot decide not to promote his secretary once he finds out she is pregnant, where he otherwise had been planning to promote her. In addition, an employer needs to accommodate a pregnant employee’s request for time off for pre-natal visits or for other medical appointments. When the female worker needs time off to give birth, the company must give her time off, but it need not be paid. Many companies, however, do give some paid maternity leave.
The Law Offices of Louis Ginsberg, P.C. have handled numerous cases of pregnancy discrimination.
