New York Employment Contracts Lawyers

Under New York employment law,  an employer and an employee can agree to set forth the terms and conditions of employment in an Employment Agreement or Contract.  An Employment Contract often sets forth the type and amount of compensation which can include things like a hiring bonus, base salary, commissions, annual or incentive bonuses, equity such as stock or stock options, benefits such as health and dental insurance, life insurance, disability insurance, car allowance, travel and entertainment expense reimbursement, circumstances under which the employee can be fired and what severance pay will be due, restrictive covenants such as non-compete clauses, no-solicitation of clients, no-raiding of employees and the protection of confidential or proprietary business information provisions as well as many other important protections.

Under New York employment law, a company and an individual can also agree to a relationship known as an Independent Contractor. An Independent Contractor Agreement can be drafted to memorialize the terms of that relationship whereby the individual may provide services or goods to a company but will work independently without close supervision by the company and will not be considered an employee.
